This is the epitome of too much information.
KSDK in Saint Louis has been over covering the death of baseball great Stan Musial for a week now. Not that he doesn’t deserve coverage and great praise for his career and humanitarian life. However, the station has reached a new level of scraping the bottom of the barrel by doing a deep in depth interview with Stan Musial’s BARBER! Complete with the sad piano rendition of Take Me Out To The Ballgame playing in the background. Click on the headline of this post to see the hard-hitting journalism I’m talking about.
Okay, we get it. KSDK wants to be known as the “Stan Musial is dead and we miss him” station. They had tons of live video from his visitation Thursday and will carry his funeral live on Saturday. What are they going to do next? Talk to the person who serviced his septic tank?
By far, the award for overkill on a news story, excuse the expression, goes to the staff and management of KSDK, who always tells us they’re the place where the news comes first.
I guess it depends on what one calls “news”.
